Mexico City, December 18, 2020.- All power companies that make up the Mexican Energetic Association (AME, for its initials in Spanish) have donated approximately 400 million Mexican pesos destined towards hospital and clinic construction, as well as to help medical personnel currently battling the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus. In addition, some of the resources were destined for the inhabitants of more than one hundred communities under vulnerable situations.
“All economic resources, supplies and medical equipment donated by AME’s members were destined towards the construction of 74 hospitals and clinics, as well as towards helping more than one hundred communities in seven different States. Such resources were conferred to 14 state and federal dependencies”, noted Ramón Moreno, AME’s president. “Battling this health crisis requires that we all come together and join efforts; Mexico has come through other crises, and this will not be the exception.”, he stated.
The donations made by AME’s members also included 963 medical ventilators and 4.7 million units of medical and sanitary materials such as surgical masks, N95 face masks, medical coveralls, facial screens, thermometers, and some others. Furthermore, more than 23 thousand units of food provisions and hygiene kits were distributed, and 35 thousand meals (breakfast and suppers) were offered to medical staff.
All members of the Mexican Energetic Association once again endorse their commitment to working towards social and economic wellbeing in Mexico, as well as to keep reinforcing the power sector to bring about development to the country and help fight social and economic inequality.
